Swim for Georgie - supporting Melanoma Institute Australia
The Howden Marlins are swimming to raise funds for the Melanoma Institute Australia
About this Giving Opportunity
The incidence of melanoma in Australia and New Zealand is the highest in the world.
We lose someone Down Under to melanoma every six hours.
At Howden Pacific, we lost our own beloved friend and colleague, Georgie Bacon (née Ahern), to melanoma on Monday, the 22nd December, 2025.
She battled her illness with heroic courage, grace, and humour.
Thankfully, research by Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is lifting melanoma survival rates significantly.
However, MIA needs extra funding to maintain its research into and fight against melanoma.
To support MIA, our swimming team, The Howden Marlins, will participate in the 20km Rottnest Channel Swim on Saturday, the 21st February, 2026.
Apart from raising funds for a very worthy cause, the Swim will pay tribute to Georgie as someone who enriched our lives and also recognise her own swimming prowess as a young woman.
Please support this campaign by donating to this worthy cause. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
